Strengthening Community Health with Compassion and Leadership

In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, few organizations stand out quite like Arche Health. Based in the heart of Perth’s south-east, Arche Health is a not-for-profit, community-focused Primary Health Network dedicated to bridging healthcare gaps and improving the quality of life for local residents — particularly in areas where health outcomes have historically been underserved.

At the forefront of this mission is Dr. Kanwal J. Singh, Chairman of Arche Health and a well-respected GP with over 40 years of experience. Under his leadership, the organization has expanded its reach and sharpened its focus on one of the most urgent issues of our time: mental health.

What is Arche Health?

Arche Health was established to coordinate and deliver better health services across the South Metropolitan area of Perth. The organization partners with general practitioners, hospitals, allied health professionals, and community support services to deliver targeted, culturally aware, and accessible care.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Chronic disease management

  • Refugee and migrant health

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health

  • Mental health services

  • Preventive care and early intervention

What makes Arche Health unique is its community-first approach — building services around the needs of real people, not just policies or numbers.

Mental Health: A Growing Priority

In recent years, mental health has become a top priority for Arche Health. The need is undeniable — increasing rates of anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and social isolation are impacting families across the region, many of whom face barriers to care such as language, stigma, or financial hardship.

Arche Health offers:

  • GP mental health care plans

  • Referral pathways to psychologists and psychiatrists

  • Crisis intervention support

  • Culturally sensitive mental health screening and early assessment

  • Programs tailored to refugees, migrants, and First Nations communities

This holistic approach not only focuses on immediate care but also emphasizes education, prevention, and long-term wellbeing — ensuring people don’t just survive, but thrive.

Dr. Kanwal J. Singh: Leadership with Heart

As Chairman of Arche Health, Dr. Kanwal J. Singh brings decades of experience in general practice and surgical training to the table — but more importantly, he brings deep empathy and a passion for community service.

Dr. Singh has practiced medicine in the Maddington and South West Metro area for over 25 years. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and was instrumental in the founding and growth of Burslem Medical Centre, which continues to serve a diverse and multicultural patient base.

His leadership at Arche Health includes:

  • Advocating for mental health funding and service access

  • Championing refugee and migrant health programs

  • Supporting GP education and integration with broader care networks

  • Driving culturally competent service models that respect the unique needs of the local population

Through his role, Dr. Singh ensures that the healthcare system isn’t just technically excellent — but compassionate, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of everyday people.

Looking Ahead

Arche Health, under Dr. Singh’s stewardship, continues to push for stronger mental health outcomes and broader access to quality care. Their model — one that combines medical excellence with grassroots awareness — is a blueprint for what community health can look like when it’s done right.

Whether you’re a patient, healthcare provider, or community member, Arche Health reminds us that good health isn’t just about hospitals and treatments — it’s about belonging, trust, and the commitment to care for one another.

We believe in creating a better, more connected community — and proudly support local initiatives like Headspace, including the Headspace Cannington Community Mural Day.
