Dr. Kanwal J. Singh

Dr. Kanwal J. Singh is a highly respected and accomplished General Practitioner with over 35 years of dedicated service to the Maddington and South West Metropolitan region. With a strong clinical background and a commitment to community-focused healthcare, Dr. Singh continues to lead with compassion, expertise, and vision.

He graduated with a medical degree in 1981, and went on to complete postgraduate qualifications in General Surgery. In Australia, he gained extensive hospital experience as a registrar at both Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where he honed his skills in acute care and complex medical management.

Prior to starting Burslem Medical Centre in 2000, Dr. Singh co-founded Maddington Village General Practice with Dr. Ivor De Souza.

Dr. Singh holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), and brings a broad skill set to his general practice. His special interests include men’s health, pediatrics, and minor surgical procedures, where he combines surgical precision with a holistic care approach.

He is also listed on the Beyond Blue national register for mental health clinicians and has a strong interest in mental health care, particularly in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Beyond clinical care, Dr. Singh has played a key leadership role in the region’s healthcare infrastructure. He served as the Chairman of Bentley-Armadale Medicare Local, and is currently the Chairman of its successor, Arche Health Ltd, continuing to advocate for accessible, high-quality community health services.

Dr. Singh is the founder and chairman of the Maddington Specialist Centre, a community-based comprehensive specialist centre, servicing inner and south eastern Perth, located conviniently on Burslem Drive, right next door to our Annex office.

Dr. Singh is known for his deep ties to the local community, where he continues to invest his time, energy, and leadership into improving health outcomes and supporting future generations of practitioners.
